The Spirit of Old Main

The Spirit of Old Main Scholarship is a newly established scholarship that provides funding opportunities for American Indian students at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. This merit-based scholarship is awarded to competitive in-state American Indian students and covers all unmet financial need for four years. To maintain eligibility, students must maintain full-time enrollment and a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Constructed in 1923, destroyed by fire in 1973, and restored in 1979, Old Main represents a symbol of resiliency and community. For many, the building represents the persistence of an American Indian community who fought for access to a formal education.
